To quickly calculate what time the webinar will be streamed in your part of the world, use this link <http://www.timeanddate.com/ ‘Can we measure psychosocial well-being after emergencies?’ Discussion and webinar on the Inter-agency Guide to the Evaluation of Psychosocial Programmes in Humanitarian Crises Date: December 19, 2012 In recent years, psychosocial support has become an increasingly central part of development and humanitarian programming. In 2011 alone, UNICEF reached over 2 million children through various psychosocial programmes. However, this is an area of programming that has also been noted for its lack of evidence. Questions on whether and how we can measure psychosocial well- being in the aftermath of a crisis linger. To address concerns regarding weak evidence, UNICEF developed the Inter-agency Guide to the Evaluation of Psychosocial Programmes in Humanitarian Crises in 2011, in partnership with Columbia University; this guide has been endorsed by 15 organizations (the list of organizations given below). Since it was completed last year, colleagues in the field have used it while implementing programmes on psychosocial care. This discussion and webinar on the guide is being organized to draw attention to the area of psychosocial programming with a special focus on their evaluation. The usefulness of the Guide was reviewed and discussed at the annual meeting of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Reference Group in Amsterdam in September this year; the group recommended wider dissemination and publicity for the tool. UNICEF, together with Columbia University, MHPSS Net and MHPSS Reference Group is organizing a discussion on the guide. The event will be webcast live to an audience in different organizations and in the field. Ms. Susan Bisell, Associate Director, Child Protection, UNICEF HQ, New York will introduce the guide The event will be followed by an online support forum in February 2013 where people from the field can seek support from experts in the field. Agencies who have endorsed the Evaluation Guide: Action Contre la Faim, CARE Austria Child Fund International, Health Net TPO, International Federation of Red Cross and, Red Crescent Societies, International Medical Corps, Medicos do Mundo, REPSSI, Save the Children, Terre des Hommes, UNICEF, War Child Holland, War Trauma Foundation, World Vision International |
